Winter Greetings from OHA

Warmest of winter greetings to you, wherever you are and whichever Indigenous Country you are on, across the diverse landscapes and weather of Australia’s north, south, east and west.

As we prepared this Winter eNews, the OHA Leadership Team shared photographs capturing Winter, Connection, Therapy and Nature from their local places. You’ll see these images throughout this edition as an invitation to pause, connect with Country, reflect and enjoy the stories, readings and resources we’ve gathered for you in this edition of OHA eNews.

From the OHA Board: Celebrating Our Collective Contribution

As we move through 2026, the OHA Board celebrates the incredible commitment and contribution of our community. At our May AGM, we farewelled the 2025/26 Leadership Team and welcomed the 2026/27 team. OHA continues to be strengthened by the generosity, expertise and care of our volunteers, committees, project teams and working groups.

Over the past year, OHA has continued to progress priorities across Practice & Quality, Research & Evidence, Policy & Advocacy, and Business & Administration. Highlights include the publication of our Ethical Standards and Practice Principles, strengthening participant voice and lived experience, Indigenous perspectives and inclusion, the publication of the Outdoor Health book with Springer Nature, and continued development of research and sector capability.

Our policy and advocacy work continues to represent the needs of our sector and communities, while our national and international connections continue to grow. We also acknowledge the important contribution of our Regional Representatives in creating opportunities for connection across Australia.

We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributes to OHA and to the development of a connected, ethical, inclusive and sustainable outdoor health sector. We also warmly welcome Tony Varcoe as OHA Executive Officer and acknowledge Bronwyn Paynter for her significant contribution to OHA and the sector.

There are many ways to be involved in OHA. Our Committees provide opportunities for members to connect, collaborate and help shape the future of outdoor health. To get involved, contact [email protected] with the Committee name in the subject line.
